The New Beijing News (Reporter Ni Wei) learned from the National Space Administration that at 11:22 am on November 3, China successfully launched the high-resolution Earth observation system major special project Gaofen-7 satellite using the Long March 4B rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. The rocket also carried and launched three satellites, including the Exquisite High Resolution Experimental Satellite, Sudan Scientific Experiment Satellite 1, and Tianyi 15 Satellite.

The Gaofen-7 satellite, as China's first civilian sub meter level optical transmission stereoscopic surveying satellite, will play an important role in land surveying, urban and rural construction, statistical investigation and other fields after operation, providing strong support for urban agglomeration development planning and agricultural and rural construction.

Gaofen-7 is the scientific research satellite in the Gaofen-7 series that requires the highest mapping accuracy. It is equipped with payloads such as dual line stereo cameras and laser altimeters, breaking through the technology of sub meter stereo mapping cameras. It can obtain high spatial resolution optical stereo observation data and high-precision laser altimetry data, achieving 1:10000 scale satellite stereo mapping for civilian use in China. The main user departments of Gaofen-7 satellite are the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development, and the National Bureau of Statistics. The data from Gaofen-7 can meet the urgent needs of users in basic surveying, global geographic information security, urban and rural construction monitoring and evaluation, agricultural survey and statistics for high-precision stereoscopic surveying data in surveying, housing construction, statistics and other fields. It can improve the level of China's surveying satellite engineering and enhance the self-sufficiency rate of high-resolution stereoscopic surveying image data in China.

It is reported that the goal of the High Resolution Special Project is to build a high-resolution Earth observation data acquisition system based on satellites, stratospheric airships, and aircraft, combined with other observation methods, to form an all-weather, all-weather, and global coverage Earth observation capability. Over the past 9 years since the launch and implementation of the special program, multiple satellites have been successfully launched, including Gaofen-1 High Resolution Wide Width, Gaofen-2 Sub Meter Full Color, Gaofen-3 1-meter Radar, Gaofen-4 Synchronous Gaze, Gaofen-5 Hyperspectral Observation, and Gaofen-6 Land Emergency Monitoring. High score data has been widely used in more than 20 industries and 31 provinces, and has become an indispensable means for relevant departments and an important support for the governance structure and system of governments at all levels. It has largely replaced foreign satellite data of the same type.In the future, the focus of the High Score Special Project will further be on applications. By 2020, advanced land, atmospheric, and marine observation systems will be established to provide services for important fields such as modern agriculture, disaster prevention and reduction, resource and environment, and public safety, ensuring the autonomy of information resources and promoting the formation of a spatial information industry chain. The Gaofen-7 satellite and the Long March 4B carrier rocket were respectively developed by the China Academy of Space Technology, a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and the Shanghai Academy of Space Technology.
