In 2020, we will launch more than 10 Beidou navigation satellites, complete the comprehensive construction of the Beidou-3 system, and further improve the system's service performance, "Yang Changfeng, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chief designer of the Beidou satellite navigation system, said in an interview with reporters.According to Yang Changfeng, the global test and assessment shows that the availability of Beidou global services is more than 95%, and the positioning accuracy is 10 meters. All regions of the world, including countries along the "the Belt and Road", can enjoy Beidou system services. Among them, the positioning accuracy level in the Asia Pacific region is 5 meters. It is reported that the Beidou satellite navigation system has been applied in various fields such as land ownership confirmation in Indonesia, construction in Kuwait, land surveying and mapping in Uganda, precision agriculture in Myanmar, offshore piling in Maldives, unmanned aerial vehicles in Cambodia, warehousing and logistics in Thailand, airport timing in Pakistan, and power inspection in Russia. Yang Changfeng stated that Beidou high-precision products have been exported to over 90 countries and regions, and Beidou ground-based enhancement technology and products have been systematically exported overseas. In Yang Changfeng's view, Beidou's provision of global services is a big step in Beidou's construction and a new starting point for development.Yang Changfeng said that after years of development, Beidou has formed a complete industrial chain and has achieved large-scale applications in industries such as transportation, agriculture, public security, surveying and mapping, as well as the general public in China. This year, we will gradually increase the in-depth innovation and integration with the Internet, big data, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, and continue to promote the emergence of new models and new formats of "Beidou+" integrated applications. According to statistics, as of the end of 2018, the sales of basic products such as domestically produced Beidou navigation chip modules have exceeded 70 million pieces, and the sales of domestically produced high-precision boards and antennas account for 30% and 90% of the domestic market share, respectively."The integrated development of Beidou and new technologies such as the Internet, big data and artificial intelligence is building an emerging industrial ecological chain with Beidou spatiotemporal information as the main content, and is becoming a new engine and booster for the rapid development of Beidou industry, promoting the transformation of production and lifestyle and continuous innovation of business models." Yang Changfeng said that the development prospect of Beidou industry is very broad.Taking 4G mobile phones as an example, Yang Changfeng stated that smartphones have become one of the most important application areas for satellite navigation systems. At present, mainstream mobile chip manufacturers both domestically and internationally have launched integrated communication and navigation chips compatible with Beidou. According to statistics, among the 100 mobile phones that applied for internet access in the fourth quarter of 2018, the vast majority were 4G phones, with 67% of phone models supporting Beidou positioning technology. In addition, regarding the currently highly anticipated 5G, Yang Changfeng believes that the combination of the Beidou system and 5G will fully leverage the natural characteristics of the Beidou system's integration of networks, technologies, services, terminals, and applications, and achieve deep application of the Beidou system in the information field. The organic integration of 'Beidou+5G' has become a new generation of information spatiotemporal system with high precision, high reliability, and high security, thus realizing the perceptible, measurable, computable, and controllable nature of the Internet of Things, supporting the integration and development of big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. Based on this, it has the ability to provide new services for fields such as smart cities, smart manufacturing, smart agriculture, and smart homes based on high-precision positioning, high-precision time, and high-definition images, "said Yang Changfeng. The proposal brought by Yang Changfeng at this year's National People's Congress and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference is "On Promoting the Long term Sustainable Development of Major Information Infrastructure such as the Beidou System". Yang Changfeng believes that the long-term sustainable development of the Beidou system still faces some challenges, and comprehensive efforts need to be made in policies, mechanisms, teams, and other aspects to gradually improve the service capabilities of major information infrastructure.By 2035, a more ubiquitous, integrated, and intelligent comprehensive positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) system with Beidou as its core will be established Yang Changfeng said that by then, Beidou will serve the world with stronger functions and better performance, benefiting humanity.
